Chapter 17- Creating

Imagine you have just seen someone murder someone you care about. How would you feel? What would be your first instincts? Would you kill the murder as Katniss did?

  1. I would get revenge. When I get really mad i sometimes go a tad bit crazy so I can't imagine what seeing someone dear to me being murdered might do. After the rage and mindlessness had passed I would feel remorse for what I'd done. Killing this person would bring me down to a level not much higher than the murderer.

  2. If someone I care about was murdered, I would probably feel shock, then denial, then numbness. I would be the one who sat by the window and is vacantly expressionless. Revenge really is not my thing. I would cry, I would sleep, I would lose feeling. As for first instincts, I would probably throw myself against the killer, but in my daze I would not do any damage. I can't imagine killing someone. Even in that adrenaline fueled state, I would know that to kill would only make matters worse. Good question, Caroline. It really made me think.

  3. In the moment I would probably kill or try to kill the murderer. I would want to caress the loved one and never let them go. I would want become immune to all senses and only be aware or memories. I think if it was someone I really cared about, I would definitely want revenge but I am not sure that I would have to courage to take action after what they did to that loved one.

  4. I do not think I would kill the murderer. Instead, I would want great pain to come to them through guilt. I would want the murderer to have to live with the shame and remorse. In the moment of a friends death, I would think nothing of the murderer. I would want to savor the last moments with my friend, and I would need to get control of my emotions.
A friend of mine passed away several years ago, and I still feel sorrow when I think of her. I think it would be even harder if I witnessed her death.
